Flooding & Wedding

For those of you who followed my absense while being with a friend....this is Chris (left) and her husband Ed (the one who was in the hospital for 2 months from a hit and run accident) at their daughter Maria's wedding last Saturday.
None of us ever thought Ed would be around to see Maria get married after spending many days in a coma and continued seizures and what seemed like everything else going wrong. He actually spent 2 days in the hospital right before the wedding from congestive heart failure. As you can tell, Chris is so happy to have him with her....she feels blessed every day.
Gayle, recognize this house? They did not escape the flood even though it was raised from the 1996 flood. Notice the life jackets on the railing. I could see inside the windows and all their things were piled high.
This is a pile of garbage in Vernonia from the flood. People were bringing their flooded belongings into the site by the truckloads. You get a sense of the size if you look at the truck and the people next to it.
This is normally an empty field which was turned into a lake along Hwy 26 in route to Vernonia. I couldn't help but capture the reflection of the fog and newly created lake. Thank goodness for the citizens of Vernonia, there was a little sun that day.

So thankful your friend is doing great and was able to be at his daughters blessing.
Feel so bad for those poor people hit by the flood.

Chris and Ed look so happy and I'm sure Maria was estatic that her Dad was able to attend her wedding! They are a lovely family and so very blessed :)

I was amazed by the images I saw last week of the flooding in both Washington and Oregon...seeing your "garbage pile" shot just brings home the tragedy these folks suffered. And to have it happen this time of year, too - so close to Christmas. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who lost home and/or loved ones in this flood.

Great shots, Kathi - TFS :)

DUH!! Forgot to comment on your last photo. This is a PERFECT example of the promise that what the enemy intends for harm, GOD can turn into something good for His children and bring glory to His Name.

Such beauty as a result from such devestation.

Wonderful shot, Kathi - TFS!

Your friend Ed looks fabulous!
Wedding pics look great.
Still see piles of garbage like that in NO even two years after Katrina. Flooding is horrible!
That last reflection pic is wonderful!

Kathi, sorry it has taken me so long to catch up...I'm thrilled to see Ed and what a blessing to be well enough to go to his daughter's wedding. I continue to pray for them! The flood...yep, that is my childhood home and even after dad raised the foundation 4-5 feet after the 96 flood, they (new owners) still got 3-4 inches of water in the house. The garbage pile is just amazing and my heart continues to feel the loss for those in Vernonia. I absolutely love the last photo! Beautiful!
